Many females have joined in the male-dominated game of poker to play and win the prestigious tournaments. Here, we talk about the women who have become household names in their countries.
1.Maria Ho
She is one of the most prominent names in the world of poker. While the girl is well-known for hermany off the felt celebrity appearances, she can play poker really well. She has over $2 million in live tournament earnings and has broken into top 100 in the WSOP Event two times. Back in 2007, the poker lady finished in the 38th place and then again in 2014 shed cashed out for finishing 77th. One thing that everyone admire in her is that she has been one of the biggest advocates for promoting women in the game. Born in Taiwan, she is one of the top ranked American poker players today.
2.Kristen Bicknell
Another big name in the world of women poker is Kristen Bicknell from Canada. She has many notable achievements to her credit. Her first win came back in 2013 when she won the WSOP $ 1,000 No Limit Hold’em -Ladies Championships, earning a whopping $ 173,922. The poker lady grabbed big headlines by winning a second career WSOP bracelet in a $1,500 NLHE Bounty event last year, earning her career’s best live cash amounting to $290,768. Recently, she finished 7th at the C$ 4,700 + 300 No Limit Hold’em – the Main Event of 2017 WPT Fallsview Poker Classic, Niagara Falls. Although she is primarily a cash game player, her success in tournaments have given her a good name on the live felts.
3.Cate Hall
Cate Hall is a real trailblazer for women in poker. Apart from her achievements on the live felts, she is well-known for speaking out on the equality for women in poker rooms across the world. She speaks of women in poker everywhere, on Twitter, at the tables, or in front of her peers and at the American Poker Awards. She has many achievements under her belts though, she won international accolades back in December 2015 when she won the $ 10,000 + 400 No Limit Hold’em WPT Main Event of the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic, Las Vegas, winning her best live cash of $ 291,320. Besides, she has several in the money finishes at various big events including Aussie Millions, WPT, EPT and WSOP. 4.Linda Johnson
Based in Las Vegas, Linda Johnson is an American poker player, journalist and consultant. Known as the First Lady of Poker, she has been one of the greatest contributors to the game of poker. She developed ideas for the game, brought many people to the poker table and also helped to formulate the World Poker Tour. Her poker journey kicked off in 1993 but her best live cash came when she won the $ 1,500 Seven-Card Razz at 28th World Series of Poker (WSOP) 1997, Las Vegas, earning $ 96,000.
5.Nikita Luther
It is goes without saying that Nikita is one of most recognizable faces in India. Apart from her Adda52 Pro Live title, she is known for her various accomplishments on the live felts. The beautiful girl from Delhi can play poker and she can play it well. She first shot into limelight when she won the No Limit Hold’em- Ladies Event at India Poker Championship (IPC). Recently, she became the first Indian woman to win an international title when she won the HK$ 3,600 + 400 No Limit Hold’em-Teams Event at Macau Poker Cup (MPC) 26. Although her total earnings amount to just $9,786, she is a household name on Indian poker landscape. She has been working hard to promote poker as a game of skill in India. She believes that poker is a sport that does not discriminate between genders and with the right approach and commitment women have the potential to reach high peaks in poker world.
